Improving Rural Livelihoods through carbon sequestration by adopting environmental friendly technology based agroforestry practices

VEDA Climate Change Solutions Ltd (VCCSL) <www.vccslindia.org> is an enviro-social enterprise established to link rural poor to international carbon markets and has developed and implementing a UNFCCC registered A/R CDM project "Improving Rural Livelihoods through Carbon Sequestration by adopting Environment Friendly Technology based Agroforestry practices"(https://cdm.unfccc.int/Projects/DB/TUEVSUED1298895593.56). The Crediting Period of the project is upto 2034. The Validation of the project was done in Feb, 2011 by TUV SUD Indstrie Service GMBH. The Methodology used was AR-AM0004 ver.3 - Reforestation or afforestation of land currently under agricultural use. VCCSL has successfully delivered carbon revenue to over 1500 resource poor farmers in India for the first time in South Asia after two verifications in partnership with the BioCarbon Fund of the World Bank's Carbon Finance Business and JK Paper Limited. The first verification was done in 2012 by JACO CDM and 79811 tCERs were issued by the UNFCCC CDM Board. The second verification was done in 2018 by RINA Services S.p.A and 62756 tCERs were issued by the UNFCCC CDM Board.

VCCSL is now in the process of developing projects under Voluntary Carbon Standards (VCS) to address climate change throough promoting climate smart agriculture, agroforestry, nature based solutions, sustainable land management etc to improve the livelihoods of rural poor, forest dependent communities, forest dwellers, small land holders etc. VCCSl also provides advisory and consultancy services.
